Whether you’re trying to lose weight, gain muscle, or improve your mood, you’ve probably heard several ‘facts’ about fitness and exercise from friends, colleagues, and gym buddies. Some of this advice includes ‘cut fat out of your diet,’ ‘cardio alone won’t help,’ ‘eat lots of protein,’ and ‘warm up only if you haven’t done daily exercise before.’ Even though your friend may wish you well, relying on these fitness tips won’t help you reach your goals and could do more harm than good.

So to help you steer clear of these misconceptions, the expert at Lee Banks Fitness Enterprises LLC has debunked three of the most widely believed myths about fitness.

Myth 1: You need one hour of personal training or resistance training to get any results

The first myth I want to address is the myth that you need one hour of personal training or resistance training to get any results. I think this myth exists because of a lack of knowledge and increased income for personal trainers. I would tell a potential customer that this is not true; you don’t need more than thirty minutes of high-intensity style resistance training to get the results you are after. The mere fact that serious professional bodybuilders like myself only spend one hour on resistance training daily proves that an average person just trying to lose weight and tone up does not require as much time training with weights. The whole key is to just simulate your muscles for lean muscle growth, not annihilate them. The clients at Lee Banks Fitness Enterprises LLC are getting dramatic transformation results in as little as three months. This is with only thirty-minute sessions weekly and walking two to three days a week.

Myth 2: To lose weight and get in shape, you need to eat five to six meals daily

Not true! This myth exists because of the many false scientific theories that suggest it is a way to control blood sugar levels and reduce body fat storage. There are no proven health benefits to eating more often. It doesn’t increase the number of calories burned or help you lose weight. Eating more often also doesn’t improve blood sugar control. If anything, eating fewer meals is healthier. Our diet regime of consuming as little as three meals and a snack helps greatly with fat loss.

Myth 3: It takes a lot of cardio to lose weight

This myth prevails because most clients have very little knowledge of proper nutrition and food portions. As a result, it takes an hour a day or more of cardio for them to see results with their current calories consumed. I disprove this myth by teaching you the correct amount of calories and food portions to consume so that all that cardio is not required.
